Call for Exhibition Proposals

The M16 Artspace exhibition program for 2007 is now full. However, M16 is accepting proposals for 2008, and there are still opportunities to exhibit during 2007 in the M16 Foyer Gallery.

The Open Access Artspace

In 2007 the main gallery at M16 Artspace will operate as an Open Access Artspace.

The Open Access Artspace:

• does not charge a hiring fee
• does not charge commission
• provides staffing of the gallery three days a week (Wednesday-Friday 12-5pm)
• administers exhibition sales and banking
• coordinates a range of paid and unpaid advertising and promotional tasks

The M16 exhibition program aims to deliver:

• a high level of excellence in arts practice
• innovation through collaborative exhibitions
• opportunities for artists to experiment freely and show work in a supportive environment
• a high level of community involvement
• a diverse program that includes the work of emerging artists, community groups and established artists.

Proposals are considered by the M16 Gallery Committee, a subcommittee of the M16 Board of Management, and assessed according to:

• coherence, clarity and quality of the proposal
• evidence of a commitment to artistic practice
• compatibility with the aims of M16• suitability of the proposed exhibition to the aims of the gallery program.

As the Open Access Artspace is supported in 2007 by an ArtsACT project grant, M16 cannot guarantee that the same terms and conditions will apply in 2008.

The Foyer Gallery

M16 also offers a Foyer Gallery exhibition space that can be hired on a week-by-week basis. Please contact the M16 Office to discuss exhibition opportunities.

Applying

If you are interested in exhibition at either our Artspace (in 2008) or Foyer gallery (in 2007/2008), please complete a Gallery Space Application and mail it to M16 Artspace (PO box 4878 Kingston ACT 2604) or deliver to M16 during office hours (Wed – Fri, 12 – 4pm).

Your application will be considered by the M16 Exhibition Committee. We will contact you once the Committee has considered your application.
